Well, on my street.
This weekend, I got to see my cousin J for the first time in 15 years. (I know, I feel horrible that it’s been that long) And we had a fantastic time, but I walked away from that Disneyland trip with food poisoning. I’m feeling better.
This is only important because it explains why I was sort of dozing in the middle of the night. So I was drifting in and out of sleep and heard things that didn’t quite make sense. Like cars driving through water, even though I knew it wasn’t raining. Or the sound of a work truck or fire engine- where the idling is a lot louder than a regular car or truck.
And when I went to take a shower at 2 am, the water pressure was lower than usual. So I wondered if something was wrong with the fire hydrant. It seemed like the only explanation.
TheBoy was still up, and he confirmed that something was up, but a city truck had come out and fussed with it. But in the morning, water was still flowing. Not from the fire hydrant, but bubbling up from the road.
They’re shutting off our water today so that they can do the repairs, but here’s a picture I took yesterday as proof.
See that little light spot in the middle? That’s where water is actually spewing from underground. There’s another spot like it further up the street, though mostly the water just seems to be seeping up from a crack in the road.
Here’s to hoping it’s an easy enough fix.
