I'll look into the vinegar! I definitely think I'm going to start home dying after I watch her do my hair one more time just to get the technique down for bleaching roots.

Our water is pretty horrible. It wouldn't surprise me if that's been a factor (though I haven't been washing it too much). I've been playing with the water temperature, since a parent (with a gorgeous vibrant red color) suggested I go as cold as possible when washing.

Saturday was a good quiet day. The best sort of day I could ask for, thanks. :)

Hooray for unexpected awesomeness!

Ask your stylist, but I have some friends who home-dye vibrant colors and they swear by a good coating of vinegar after dyeing to lock in the color, perhaps the toner did the same job. (It smells, but you don't lose the color.) I think it depends on the water chemistry where you live too.

Hope you can keep the awesome color and that today is a kind one. :)

Haha! Luckily for me my oldest is incapable of hiding anything- he had to tell me that the birthday card they bought me had Mickey Mouse on it.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if they were trying to behave so that we'd take them to Disneyland... hmmm.

Yeah, I hope the company uses these sets as a gateway to cooler ideas in the line for the future. The inventor's workshop and the tree house look awesome - Olivia the smart one definitely has the accessories I would have wanted :)

Hmmm...me thinks your sons broke something while you were gone, either that, or they want a puppy.

Thanks! :)

I was really worried that people would treat my kids differently because of the hair. The mean moms have no idea what to make of me now, but nobody has treated my kids any differently. Though both teachers were curious how I explained the hair to the kids. (And I did make sure my boys knew that this was something I could do because I was an adult)

This has nothing to do with either- but I was reading through your journal and saw the post on the Lego Friends line. I bought a set for a birthday party gift for a girl in my son's class- I went for the Inventor's Workshop (because I would have wanted to be an inventor at age 6). She has older brothers, both of whom play with legos, so I thought that it'd at least keep them from stealing her set... but I really do wish that they hadn't of basically made it Polly Pocket lives in Lego-land.

I figured it would get worse. I mean, I remember going from not wanting to clean up what little mess I made to just leaving everything everywhere. And having to dig out my room once a month (thank goodness my mom had the sense to ban food in my room!).

But there's a clean gene that seems to run through my husband's family. Maybe they'll get it. (My husband was a bit of a slob as a teenager when he lived at home, but when we moved in together, suddenly he became a neat freak)

I am a fellow slob. It is great when aliens climb into our children's bodies and they do unexpected helpful things. Sorry to tell you it gets worse when they are teens.

I find myself worrying about how my choices will be reflected in what people think of my child. There is basically no faster to way to make me feel timid about my actions - and I get annoyed with myself for that, but it doesn't make me feel any less cautious. It feels like I'm not being me, and for less life-altering reasons that you articulate here. So here are some kudos and well-wishes from a stranger on the internet; I hope 32 is amazing. (And I love the hair!)

I hope you get some answers. I know for me I always prefer to know what's going on. Glad you went through the procedure mostly un-bothered. (The salty liquid sounds awful.)
